Ban Social Media for Kids and Tax Big Tech and AI

In 2024, Vermont passed a ban on cellphones in schools. This was a crucial first step. Social media has created a public health emergency. Unaccountable tech companies are exploiting our children for profit and driving them to self-harm, depression, suicide, and other mental health challenges. Nikhil calls on Vermont to impose a ban on social media for children under the age of 16, following the lead of Australia and proposals from Canada, the United Kingdom, Spain, and other nations. It’s time to take back control for the sake of our children’s health and well-being.

Nikhil supports a moratorium on new data centers in Vermont. We need to enact clear guardrails for artificial intelligence that protect workers, students, power grids, and the public at large.

Nikhil calls for a tax on the profits of Big Tech and AI to fund local journalism and support displaced workers.
